What ADR transport actually involves

ADR is the European agreement on the international carriage of dangerous goods by road. It is not a single permit but a chain of requirements: it governs the construction and periodic inspection of the tank and the vehicle combination, the marking and equipment of the vehicle, the content of the transport documents, the driver's qualification, and the procedures for loading and discharge.

For liquid chemicals this means the tank, the vehicle combination and the crew all need valid certification. We keep that chain closed throughout: every step is documented, from accepting the order to confirming discharge.

The L4BH tank code

Our tank containers carry the L4BH code. Under the ADR tank coding, this indicates a tank built for liquid substances (L), with a test pressure of at least 4 bar, bottom discharge with closure devices (B), and a hermetically sealed design (H).

This is the most widely used configuration for liquid hazardous chemicals: the closed system prevents vapour release, while bottom discharge allows fast and controlled unloading.

ADR and ISOPA qualification

Beyond their ADR qualification, our drivers also hold ISOPA training. ISOPA is the European association of diisocyanate and polyol producers, which issues guidelines for the transport and discharge of these substances that go beyond the statutory minimum.

Chemical shippers generally expect this additional qualification, because discharge is the highest-risk operation in the transport chain.
